Werewolf in the Dark (WitD) can be played pretty much anywhere where it is dark. That doesn't mean all play spaces are created equal. Obviously, one dream place to play WitD is in an actual medieval castle, but that might not be realistic for you. Where is the best place you hope to play AND likely will?
PROJECT UPDATE
Project Update: JANUARY UPDATE: Addresses Locked
Happy New Year! I hope your 2025 is full of incredible Werewolf in the Dark (WitD) games and you make incredible memories while playing with friends.
TLDR:
TLDR:
- We are approaching fulfillment, so you mailing addresses are being locked.
- As soon as we get specific delivery dates, we will share them.
- MOTHERSHIP RPG companion app videos available.
- Last weekend's WitD session report.
ADDRESS ARE BEING LOCKED.
If you haven't already, you should have received an email from Backerkit asking to make sure your address is accurate. At the time of this update, you should have about 24 hours to change your address. After that, changing your address may result in you getting your copy of WitD a bit later than everyone else.
Locking addresses is great news! It means we are getting very close to fulfillment. Once everyone has locked their address, we will have a more accurate delivery date for everyone. My hope is to share a very accurate fulfillment dates by the end of this week or next. As of right now, we are still on schedule to fulfill this quarter.
MOTHERSHIP RPG COMPANION APP TUTORIALS!
This segment is for any of you MOTHERSHIP RPG fans. If you didn't already know, there is a free companion app for Mothership. This app provides you with all the tools you need to quickly create and play characters. You'll never have to remember to bring dice or a character sheet to a game again. There is also content you can pay for which allows you to run a virtual table top and create maps!
Here is a tutorial video for how to run a Virtual Table Top session using the app:
WEREWOLF IN THE DARK SESSION REPORT
This past Saturday, I played about 6 hours worth of WitD with about 20 people. The best part was where we played. My friend, Kevin Jones, owns Lockology Escape Rooms in Columbus, Ohio and he is a big fan of WitD. So invited all of us to play in his entire escape room facility!
Imagine hiding in a pitch black Egyptian temple room. Picture yourself crouching in the dark under a giant Mayan sacrificial skull, or sneaking around steampunk themed machinery. Well, all 20 players did exactly that as we screamed, laughed, and loved hunting and hiding from one another. We played enough games that we played almost every character available in both the Werewolf Pack and the Monster Box.
Here are some highlights:
- The Blob made an appearance, growing as it absorbed more and more hiding players. Eventually, the Blob grew to over a dozen players all holding hands, all stumbling around in the dark trying to find more players to join the chain of human murder. The ghosts, armed with their candles, lit and led the blob towards more victims. Eventually, the Blob oozed its way into the old west haunted jail themed room where a single player hid in the corner. With only one way in and only one way out of the room, the last survivor screamed as he knew his future was only that of becoming one with the Blob.
- The Imposter killed the Woodsmith almost immediately during the first night. The Imposter has the ability to ask their victims who they were when alive. Within the first minute of the round, the Imposter loudly shouted, "I'm the Woodsmith and need to be alone so I can knock! Please leave me alone!" Because the Imposter was acting the part of the Woodsmith so early, nobody every suspected him. Almost needless to say, the Imposter won that game.
- A round ends after a dead body is found, touched, and asked, "Are you dead?" If the dead player affirms, then the living player may shout, "BODY FOUND!" instantly ending the round and causing the lights to turn on. Well, at one point, we heard from the other side of the facility, "BODY F..." Many of us were initially confused and asked, "Did someone find a body?" only to be answered with silence. It quickly became clear that one player was killed before they were able to finish verifying a dead body. Terrifying.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I sincerely hope you all have as much fun playing the game as we did. This is why I can't wait until you get this game in your hands! As always, please share any comments, questions, or your own session reports.

Project Update: OCTOBER UPDATE: Spooky Delays!
Happy Halloween Werewolf in the Dark Backers!
TLDR:
TLDR:
- We are facing at least a 16 day delay due to mistakes made by Alan Gerding (me). More delays are expected due to hitting the holiday season.
- The new expected delivery for your games are early 2025.
- Next up for you is charging your credit cards. Shipping will be charged later once closer to that time.
DOH! I'M SO SORRY.
I received the very first copies of Werewolf in the Dark (WitD) on Monday. This included one copy of the Wolf Pack and one copy of the Monster Box. Traditionally, air shipping a copy of your game to the publisher is the last step in the manufacturing approval process. The factory already produced thousands of copies of Werewolf in the Dark, they just send the publisher a copy before they start sealing up and freighting the games out of the factory. This is the last opportunity for the publisher to catch any issues and stop the process.
Well, imagine how much I hate myself because I did catch some errors. None of these errors were big enough to stop the flow of production and cause delays... until I caught one big mistake. Let's dive in.
Boxes are Too Big
Yeah. So I don't know where I made the mistake here. The WitD box is meant to be the exact same box size as our other products, Two Rooms and a Boom (2Rooms) and World Championship Russian Roulette (WCRR). This is all embarrassing, but it especially stings to know I didn't compare the white box pre-print models with our other boxes. I waited until the final production samples to put them side by side?!? This 13mm difference also allowed enough space for the candles to annoyingly jiggle around and get a bit messy. "Not good, but not a deal breaker," I thought.
Print is Too Small
While the back of the box looked gorgeous on my computer screen, and it even looked great in the printed poster version (a step before final production models), when held the actual game in my hand I realized there are too many items that are too small. I can't really read the game stats (age, player count, and time), but I definitely can't read any of the sample card text. These need to be more legible. "Not ideal, but not so bad to delay the game," I thought.
We Forgot the Choking Warning?!?
Chances are good you own a bunch of board games. Look at the back of any of them and the you're likely going to see a "C E Child Choking Warning." This is because it is way cheaper to simply print a warning than it is to pay for a very expensive and lengthy child proof approval. Without this warning, Tuesday Knight Games could potentially get in big trouble.
"Stop the presses! Throw all of those boxes away! We need to redo the boxes," I told our manufacturer.
What Does This Mean?
For Tuesday Knight Games, it means we have to spend at least $7,000 to redo the boxes (TKG pays, definitely not you the backer). For everyone, it means at least 16 days of delays. Realistically, it is likely more than 16 days. Why? Because now it means that all of those big boats carrying our game won't arrive to port until smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. What is the problem with that? Well, the insane amount of shipping that happens in December causes a whole lot of shipping delays.
We are now looking at an early 2025 delivery. Sincere apologies.
The Good News
Besides the box, everything else looks gorgeous! The ghost tokens, the cards, the vacuum tray, and the candles are all pretty incredible. We've got a high quality game on our hands. So while delayed, we get a chance to make the box even better than we original planned.
COMING UP NEXT!
Credit Cards Charged
The next step for you, as a backer, is to get your credit cards charged. We will run your cards in November. If there any issues with your cards, addresses, or anything else, Backerkit should inform us. This is good news because it gives us time to communicate with you to fix any issues that arise. For most of you, all this really means is you'll see your Backerkit charge appear on your credit card statement.
Shipping Charges
Well after we resolve all of your credit card info, address, etc., you'll get another notification once we get closer to shipping in early 2025. This is when you'll be notified of final shipping charges. With shipping charges calculated at the time of shipping, you'll be asked to approve the charges so your game will be sent in the mail straight away.
And that's your October update! I'm truly sorry about my mistake and resulting delay. I should have caught this error earlier in the process or not have made any of these mistakes to begin with.
As always, please share your feelings, questions, or concerns below. If you want to see more component photos or the unboxing video I filmed (during which is when I realized the box size mistake), let me know. We are always happy to help and continue to be grateful for you backing this wonderful game.
- Alan

- Our next campaign is in November, and it's a month long MOTHERSHIP collaboration.
SURVEY ARE OUT!
Good news! The surveys are out. At the time of writing this update, 80% have already completed your surveys. This is great! I'd be lying if I told you we didn't hit any snags. However, any glitches encountered were reported and have since been fixed. This is why it is so important to...
Please let us know if you have any issues. You can leave a comment here or, better yet, email [email protected] with any questions or concerns you may have.
As for the production of the game, so far we haven't hit any more hiccups. We are still trying our best to get this to you before 2025.
MOTHERSHIP MONTH
The countdown has begun. Mothership Month will launch November 12th on BackerKit. This marks the first Group-Collab of its kind that brings a creator together with its third-party publishing (3PP) community to host a multi-project, month-long collaborative crowdfunding event.
The Mothership Month Group-Collab will showcase projects from us (Tuesday Knight Games) and 15+ creators. All projects are based on the beloved Mothership RPG and are packed with livestreams, collaborative rewards, freebies, polls, and trivia challenges tailored to celebrate the Mothership fan and creator community.
“Mothership Month is the culmination of everything we’ve been working towards. A place where our fans and creators can celebrate this amazing community and this little game we all love. I’m so excited we’re able to make this happen and get to shine more of a light on our amazing 3PP community.”
– Sean McCoy, my fellow Co-Founder of Tuesday Knight Games
With over 15 confirmed creators participating in Mothership Month this year and more to be announced, the Mothership Month Group-Collab features some of the brightest stars from the Mothership 3PP community, each with a brand new adventure. Including:
- Interloper by Silverarm Press (Desert Moon of Karth, Tide World of Mani)
- Fine Print by Lone Archivist (Tidebreak, What We Give to Alien Gods)
- Awaiting the Burning Gods by Magnum Galaxy Games (Nirvana On Fire, Dying Hard on Hardlight Station)
- NO ESCAPE: Black Krok Maximum Security Prison by Spider00x (Rane in Blood, Miami Laser Cutter Massacre)
Plus, there will be a brand new hardcover module from Tuesday Knight Games: WAGES OF SIN. Over 200 pages of content for running bounty hunting games in Mothership, including 100 bounties each formatted as a one-shot adventure.
Think of Mothership Month as a pep rally for the entire Mothership community with livestreams and new actual plays from intrepid creators such as The Panic Table and Nobody Wake the Bugbear airing on our project page. While each campaign will have its own achievements and rewards, early backers can expect an exclusive patch from Tuesday Knight Games, and backers who back multiple projects will get to unlock cards from an exclusive bounty deck.
