It's great seeing so may new (digital) faces in the PG Discord! So much so that we've tweaked our Corporate Community Achievements!
Rather than sharing on Facebook or X (Twitter) to unlock an Adventure and Casefile reveal, we're going to just push for 50 & 100 more Discord members respectively! Let's side-step the major corporations, and focus on our gaming community. And our Corporate campaign, I suppose.
The Big Mechanic Reveal:"Severance" Or: "How to Get A Head In Business"
Severance is a dicey new mechanic introduced in the upcoming adventure "Severance Packages" (yes, I can use the same pun twice).
Severance Packages is the spiritual (and maybe literal) sequel to Corporate Risers - the classic Shiver adventure from the core rulebook and original QuickStart. We love this adventure, and we know the community do as well. Special shout out to our Director's Club's own Millie Lavelle who seems to run the O.G. adventure at conventions every year! Cornwell would not be where it is today without you! Not that they'd ever admit it.
Taking the action from an underground research base into the cold void of space was our way of escalating the setting, while still maintaining that claustrophobic atmosphere than made the original adventure so tense (and easy to manage for Directors (GMs)). But how do you improve upon that most classic of monsters, the zombie?
You make them undead space demons with an endless hunger for violence, and a near unstoppable rage. We say "near" unstoppable because, as you're about to learn, Cornwell interns can achieve almost anything with a bit of ingenuity and grit. Well, anything except a paycheque.
Severance is a mechanic that applies to certain experimental weapons that can be used to tackle these oddly undead - and just about anything else should you so choose it. In short, it's using power tools to make sure these weird things in space get dead - and stay dead.
It's just one of the many unique and fun mechanical twists you'll find during your time at Cornwell, and we can't wait to show you more!
