Project Update: Production Update 5: This isn't healthy.
Friends of the truth,Â
I have been working on this show like a madman. What I’m doing probably isn’t healthy, that’s the bad news for me. The good news for you is the following: all editing of the voice actors for all episodes is over. All FX and foley work for the first six episodes is done. And the first five episodes are completely done. Yes, mix, music, sound design; everything. They only have to be mastered.Â

Â
So, basically, I’m almost halfway done with the entire season, since there are thirteen episodes.Â
Â
If I don’t suddenly burn out on this editing and composing marathon and need a break to keep enough distance, you guys may get the season around the beginning of December.Â
Â
Enough typing, I have frantic music making to do!

Project Update: DECA 2 Production update #4
Friends of the truth,
Production is going great. Out of the 28 roles, 25 have been cast. The three remaining ones are very small roles, and even though I have been struggling to find the right voices, I’m going to push on and keep looking during editing/soundtracking/etc, if necessary.

The two leads are about 80% to 85% done with recording their parts, and I would say recording overall is around the 90% mark. Unless some unforeseen disaster hits, by the end of next month, I’ll be deep into editing the main structure of the episodes, and the month after I’ll be composing the soundtrack.
If all goes really really smoothly, and this is a bit of a stretch, you guys may have the whole season in your inbox around the end of this year. Fingers crossed.
If you want to know anything about where I’m at with production, please reach out!
Thanks again,

No te preocupes.

Project Update: DECA 2 Production Update #3
Hi Friends!
In this month’s production update, nothing but good news.
Out of the 28 roles, 20 have been cast, which includes all major and medium ones. That means casting is about 90% done. The leads are still working on recording their parts, one of them is making great headway. I would say about 50% of the lines are recorded.
Last month, I struggled to get in touch with one of the leads. It came up to the point where I worried about his wellbeing a little bit and also about the production of the show as a whole – him being the one with the most lines by far. But, turns out, all is well. And he’s starting to record his episodes as we speak. This is a huge weight off my shoulders, and it means the schedule won’t change that much! Great news.
Â
I suspect to have about 70 to 80 percent of the show recorded by the end of next month, and then to start editing the month after. I’ve decided to hire help with editing for the first time in my career. I like to be really hands-on, but just to keep this from going for too long, I’ll have an editor helping me build the foundation of the episodes and editing all my foley work. That should speed things up. I’ll still do the ‘creative’ work like soundtrack work or FX, etc. and also the final edit.
If you want to see my progress in real time, check THIS document.

Monthly production update #2
Â
The second month of DECA 2 production is over and there’s been lots of great progress and a big potential setback.
Â
Just like last month I’m mainly casting roles and directing their parts. For those who missed last update: the way I work is recoding all parts first. After having all the different monologues and one-sided dialogues ready I start editing all the puzzle pieces together into a first edit of the main structure. If punch in recordings are needed, I request them after the first round of editing. So, first phase is casting and directing performances.
Â
This season has a cast of 28 voice actors. Last month, I made great headway by recording lots of supporting roles. This month has been mainly about the two leads. I’ve finished the first five episodes with the female lead. She’s doing a great job, I’m so lucky Lyndsay is a part of this project! A bit of a setback has been that I’m unable to get in touch with the male lead. I do hope everything is okay on his end. From a production standpoint this is a major setback. It took me months to find the right voice and I didn’t even want to start the crowd funding before locking in that role. It’s not a problem that’s unsolvable. If we don’t start recording this month, I’ll start looking for someone else and shift the production schedule accordingly.
Â
I suspect we’ll have almost all voices expect for the male lead recorded at the end of next month. If we do find another lead quickly, I hope to start editing in October!

Project Update: DECA 2 Production Update
The first month of DECA 2 production is over. And I think it's been a very good one.Â
EDITING THE SCRIPT
Right after the crowd funding campaign funded, I started going through the script again. I had a lot of very good feedback from beta readers and some of my friends and family that always have great constructive feedback. It took rewriting it twice to get it to the final point. Especially the ending got a lot of overhauls and I think the script is now on version 8. But I feel very confident about it . Weirdly enough, season 1 also took 8 versions...Â
CASTING & DIRECTING
Then casting and recording started. I don't record chronologically, but per role. So I really get into one role, try to find the perfect actor for that part and record that performance. Once I feel really confident about the performance and consider it a wrap, I move on to he next one. It won't come together into cohesive episodes until all the individual parts are on tape. That proces can be very, very slow, but it's the only way for me to get it right without drowning in the project. And I think I've been able to make a lot of progress. The casts consist of roughly 27 different voices - ranging from the lead to the very small three line supporting parts. And now, I've finished 10 of those in about two and a half weeks. Some of which were parts I was very nervous about getting to work. So, I'm very happy with that! I'm hoping to keep this momentum going next month.
PRODUCTION OVERVIEW DOC
I'll end this with a reminder that you can check on my real-time progress anytime, by checking out THIS doc. You will see the episodes titles - just a warning in case you want to go in completely without spoilers.

Project Update: Link to DECA 2 Production Overview Document
Hi Friends,Â
As the crowd funding is wrapping up and rewards are going out, production is in full swing. I've finished the fourth and final version of the scripts and I'm in the middle of casting now.Â
I'll be writing up a short production update the first of every new month, but if you want to keep track of my progress in real time, below you can view my own personal overview doc for the entire production timeline.Â
Very very mild spoiler warning: the overview mentions all the episode titles. I don't really think they give away too much, but if you want to go in completely unknowing, don't click
