Thanks for joining us on our first ever Mothership Month! đź‘˝

PSA: What about shipping?

While it would be amazing if we could bundle all the shipping together, currently with each project's different location, fulfillment timeline, and process it's not feasible for everything to be shipped together. It's a difficult logistical problem to solve and we've got some ideas for next year to help relieve shipping burdens. A few projects may ship together based on the publisher, see each project's page for details.

Project Update: February Status

Hey, everyone! We’re back, here in the tail end of a very busy Zine Month, to give you another quick update on the progress of Devil’s Due.

First, how about some exciting work-in-progress artwork from the new spreads added with the unlocked stretch goal?

This unfinished piece by the incredible Scragend will be for the Slickstar Resurrectionist mission, showing the player crew meeting with the eccentric slickware producer Amiarah Tolayo and Cassie, one of her android bodyguards, about salvaging a ghost generationship that she believes will soon reappear from hyperspace. The Pressure Cooker is one of the popular bars in Azimuth, built from scavenged plumbing, boiler rooms, and reactor parts. It provides a range of questionable drinks, gambling, and other downtime activities.

We’re working with Lur Noise, Amanda Lee Franck, Sam Wildman, and Scragend on the remaining stretch goal art spreads for each mission.

Speaking of Scragend’s art, we’re finalizing our temporary tattoo design. Passengers heading planetside on Charon’s Ferry will get this stamp laser-printed on their skin, marking them as having already paid their return fare back up the space elevator.
We’ll be picking the artist for our second patch design soon.

But that’s not all! The wonderful Joshua Justice has been hard at work recording the bonus radio broadcast MP3s that were also unlocked via stretch goals. Broadcasts mentioning each of the 10 pirate captains have been made, and we’ll begin on the scripts for the 7 mission broadcasts shortly.

As for the book itself, we expect the first editing pass to be done by the end of the month, with the second pass starting soon after. Then we can get serious about layout.

Other Projects
A quick reminder that a few of our contributors have other new projects that you can check out, including three more Mothership books!
  • Emergence, a 28-page funnel adventure by Carson Brown through a collapsing, flooded, and fungal-infested underground prison, is now funding through Mar. 11th!
  • Fear of a Daily Planet, a 36-page dungeoncrawl by Jordan Boschman through a lost printer colony for producing employee handbooks, is still funding until Feb. 25th.
  • A Secret Chord, a 48-page, three-part cosmic horror adventure published by RV Games, taking the players through a crashing ship, a mysterious colony, and a seven-level underground temple, is also still funding and also ends Feb. 25th.
  • Hit the Road, Jack! is a solo/duet tabletop Wretched & Alone game of adrenaline rush and creeping terror by our co-writer Kyle Tam that will be funding a physical print run with RV Games starting Mar. 13th!
  • I’m Still on the Mountain is a new beehiiv newsletter from Joshua Justice, our talented co-writer and audio producer. Check out his latest post with free backup crew characters for your Mothership games!

If you’ve got any questions feel free to post in the community, comment on our updates, or find us on social media.

Best,
Jordan and the rest of the Devil's Due team

Project Update: Burning Gods is Heating Up in February!

Hello everybody and welcome to your February update. It’s a juicy one! Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Awaiting the Burning Gods: Progress Report

Now that Daniel has submitted all but two of the art pieces Dai is working on the final layout, and it looks fantastic. Honestly, I could yammer on about it but have a look at these samples as I think they speak for themselves.
Work in progress - final layout may vary
Work in progress - final layout may vary

The Smuggler’s Guide to 1365…

Is done! The manuscript that is. Plus, in a stroke of good luck, the illustrious Jarret Crader had an opening in his schedule and has stepped in for editing. Long time Mothership fans may recognize Jarret’s name from a whole slew of projects including a bunch of work on his own publishing imprint Space Penguin Inc., the majority of first party Mothership adventures, and, of course, Magnum Galaxy's very own Dying Hard on Hardlight Station. Jarret has already completed the developmental edit on The Smuggler’s Guide, and will be doing line and copy this week which means I’ll be turning it over for layout very soon. Can’t wait to see what Dai does with this outer rim outlaw’s guide to the galaxy (or at least one particularly lawless chunk of it).

Speaking of the Smuggler’s Guide I kind of got a little carried away with it. I figured, you know what would make all those cool fence and contraband tables sing? A complete mini-setting to anchor them in! So, surprise surprise, along with the alternate start scenarios, the bonus adventure, and all the promised tables, there is also a whole new location to explore: The Barge Bazaar, an itinerant black market that roams Nakatomi Sector 1365 peddling elicit wares to all with the cash to pay. Can’t wait to share more about it in the coming months but I’ll leave this as a fun teaser of what’s to come.

Cross Collab with Interloper: Androids!

I took a quick break from writing The Smuggler’s Guide last week to switch gears and create some weird, wacky, and occasionally horrifying androids for my cross collab with Joel Hines’ Interloper.  I had a lot of fun cranking out 20 different visions of the android copy of the park’s founder. The challenge was to see how many strange, weird, and fresh directions I could come up with. Inspired by Arnold K’s “Dungeon Checklist” from Goblin punch I imagined not only a unique character for each but also how they might function in play to drive action, unlock mysteries, or create some horrific scenes. I love these weird little fellas and can’t wait to try them out when I finally get my hands on the final copy of Joel’s game. Here’s a sneak peak at a couple of my faves:

Backerkit Pledge Manager Progress

The pledge manager opened at the beginning of the month and already 91% of you have completed your surveys. That’s awesome! If you have yet to do it, lost or never received your survey you can head to the survey recovery page, enter your email, and you will receive another survey link.

Speaking of the Pledge Manager, I received a couple of questions about how the promotional patches appear in your cart. Those of you who are first 48 hours backers should all have 1x complimentary Smoking Darkness Reclamations patches in your carts. The other promo patch is the Landis University patch. That one, as you may remember, is the reward to celebrate all 20 Mothership Month projects funding and it is going out to every physical backer of Awaiting the Burning Gods. If you are a backer at the zine only level you will see 1x of the Landis patch in your cart. However, if you are getting a box set you won’t see the patch in your cart because the patch will be packed inside the box set. So, if you are getting a boxed set, you will be getting the Landis patch. Hope that clarifies that one. If you have any other questions about your cart or survey don’t hesitate to reach out to Backerkit through the Pledge Manager and they will either answer or pass it on to me to respond.

That’s a wrap for this month. This was a big one and I am excited to share even more next month! Until then, all the best and happy adventuring,

Dave

Project Update: February Update: More Art From Zach Hazard

Good evening!

This month’s update will be short. We’ve been clearing our plate of 2024 projects over the last month, and we continue to make progress on Blood Leeches.

The most exciting things we have to share are art from Zach hazard for the solo gamebook vinyl adventure Orgy of the Blood Leeches: Thicker Than Blood. I am sharing the character portraits for each of the two possible player characters who star in this adventure. Zach has also finished the back cover and the two inside flaps of the gate fold vinyl, but we’re saving that art to show later.

It’s looking like Anthers is now going to be entering into the studio in June due to their upcoming tour, but they’ve already shared an exciting demo for the ambient score that will be on the vinyl itself (along with two of their songs).

I hope to write the scripts for Amanda’s full spread illustrations by the end of the month, and I will be writing Thicker Than Blood During the month of March. I will turn my writing work back towards the main manuscript in April, and we’re looking at starting layout in earnest this Summer.

See you next month!

Project Update: It's All Here!

Hello everyone,

The books have arrived which means shipping can begin!

It took a good 20 minutes to load the table up. And i was a little worried about the weight. I also needed to grab a step ladder out to properly get all the stuff in, and I'm not exactly short haha!

What Now?

With everything here and looking good, it means this weekend I'll be Locking Addresses. If you need to update/confirm anything, now is the time.

For my own sanity (and the sake of the post office staff - I live semi-rural), I'll be shipping out about 50 packages a day. So the last ones should hopefully be going out in around 10 days. They are shipping from Australia, so it will take a week or two to arrive, especially those that live in more remote locations.

I'll post another update once everything has shipped. Though feel free to reach out to me if you have any concerns/issues that arise.

Thanks for being here folks, stay well.
Cheers,
- Dan.

Edit

I pledged to physical copies of Wages and added on the Mothership Deluxe set and some other small items. I was hoping/expecting that this pledge would also include PDF copies of the items I included. However, as of this time I have received no notification of any PDFs - in particular regarding the Mothership Deluxe and already released content. My question is - was I mistaken and will I not receive PDFs as part of this pledge? (That is very disappointing) Or - have the PDFs not been released to backers yet? (If so, any timeline?) Or - has my email/notification of PDF content gone missing somewhere (either I lost it, or it got missed in the process)? Any help, please.

Project Update: February Updates

Hello! It's February and things with Death Pays All Debts are moving along.

Writing and Editing
On the writing side, Christian is continuing through the dev editing pass which is nearly done. Then I'll get to re-writes to tighten everything up. I have also started writing the final form of What Dreams May Come, the bonus pamphlet reward for all Mothership Month projects funding.

Once dev editing is done I think we'll be able to move quickly to finalize the manuscript and get it into layout for the last copy-editing passes.

Illustration
We have wonderful interior NPC illustrations by Chao complete!
Logistics
I have worked with the patch vendor and gotten final designs finished and approved, so they are in the process of being created now!

Thant's all for now!

Project Update: FEBRUARY UPDATE: WHATS UP, DOG?

Howdy friends!

Apologies for the delay in updates, both Cameron and I have been recovering from unexpected illnesses.

We’re thrilled to share some progress on the project and let you know what we’ve been up to. Here’s where things stand:

  • Core Manuscripts: We’re currently deep in the writing process, hammering out the core manuscripts to make sure everything is just right.

  • Worldbuilding with PANIC TABLE Lore: The world is coming alive as we flesh it out with rich, immersive lore. You’re going to love diving into this universe!

  • DOGLIKES We’re about halfway through creating all the terrifying DOGLIKE horrors. We’ll have some teasers to share with you as we get closer to the layout phase!

  • Compiling Assets and Art: We’re in the process of gathering and organizing all the assets and art to ensure we’re fully prepared for the layout phase.

A Quick Note on Shipping: When we get closer to completing the PDFs, we’ll open the pledge manager. This will help us keep shipping costs as accurate as possible for everyone.

Right now, we’re fully immersed in the creative process and can’t wait to show you more of what we’ve been working on. Thank you so much for your incredible support and patience—it means the world to us!

We’ll be back in March with another update. Until then, STAY!

Much love,
Jack and Cameron

Project Update: Proofing Complete + Surveys out soon

Hello everyone,

The proofing pass on Daedalus Station is now complete! I've gone through and adjusted all the mistakes flagged by Christian and removed some placeholder stuff. You can access the new pdf for it here and the new version of Hit the Ground Running here. It turns out that digital downloads aren't sent until the surveys are sent out and you lock your addresses so that's why nothing was sent to your emails.

Speaking of, the next order of business is to sort out those surveys. Over the next week or two, you should get an email to lock in your information and pay for shipping. I'll send out a reminder when this happens.

All the best,
S. Murphy
