Project Update: Shipping Update: Backerkit Orders are on the Way!

Dear Backers,

We’re excited to share an update on the shipping process for your Backerkit orders! We’re shipping orders in bulk segments based on character, domestic location, and current inventory. Here’s how it works:
  • Orders are divided by character and shipped in batches. For example, if one character has 7 orders and another has 25, the batch with 7 orders will ship first.
  • Each order is shipped separatelyβ€”so if you have multiple bags, you may receive them at different times. Rest assured, any remaining items are on their way!
Current Status:
βœ… Most orders are progressing smoothly! However, a few items are still pending:
  • Stolas Backerkit, Plushies, and Inserts have not yet arrived.
  • Stolitz Backerkit is experiencing delays, and I’m exploring options with a different manufacturer due to a lack of progress.
  • 12x20 Bags & Boxes are pending shipment from Alibaba, but they should arrive soon.
  • Vee Bags are arriving gradually, and we expect to finish their shipments this week, as their labels are already prepared.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this process! We’re working hard to ensure everything arrives safely and promptly. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out!
Best regards,
 Akira
 Astral Feather
P.S. Once this Backerkit shipment is complete, I’ll be launching more Backerkits that don’t revolve entirely around Hazbin/Helluva! My next three projects include Baldur’s Gate 3, The Amazing Digital Circus, and Murder Dronesβ€”all with a new manufacturer to ensure a smoother experience. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Project Update: Pride Potions: March Update - Part 2

Hi everyone, I'm making another update to answer some questions and address some things--

To begin with, I'm deeply sorry for the delays. I've definitely made some mistakes over the past year, and am working to correct everything as swiftly as possible. To that end, as I've previously stated:

I WILL NOT BE RUNNING ANY MORE CAMPAIGNS OR PROJECTS UNTIL ALL OUTSTANDING PROJECTS ARE FULFILLED.

I thought I had made that clear, but it seemed as though some were still confused.

I know I dropped the ball. I've done my best to communicate as clearly as possible, but evidently my updates have still been lacking, so here's a breakdown of the situation.

Thanks to various life circumstances, I unfortunately took far longer than anticipated to complete proofs necessary for the manufacturing process to begin, along with switching manufacturers. At this point, however, I've finally managed to almost fully catch up on everything at this point, and Foxwright Apothecary has been fully in production for several weeks now. As promised, here's some a photo update from the manu of some of the molds:

Pride Potions has now also fully entered production, and surveys for Decadent Orchard should be sent out before April. Proofs for Decadent Orchard have been completed at this point, so following survey responses, that project can also enter production swiftly. As it currently stands, all Foxwright Apothecary pins should be shipped before the end of May, provided there are no significant delays in manufacturing or shipping, which are outside of my control. Pins for all ongoing projects should be shipped before the end of Summer 2025. I know that this is less than ideal for many; my aim is to resolve these projects before the summer begins.

I understand the concerns expressed in the comments, and would like to know what I can do to better serve everyone. Would it be preferred that I make an update once a week, even if I have nothing new to share, or would it be preferable for updates to only address new developments?

Project Update: Pride Potions: March Update

Things are moving along!

With everything approved and fully in production with Foxwright Apothecary, I’ve had the time at last to finalize all the proofs for Pride Potions, which was a behemoth of a task that has been a source of a lot of my overwhelming stress. They’ve been sent along to my manufacturer, I’ve gotten my invoice, and have sent the payment, so that means all Pride Potions pins are going to be headed into production very soon!

⭐ Thank you all for sticking with me, and for the continued support and patience!

Project Update: Shipping update and Year 4 announcement!

Hi Folks!

I just received copies of The Slayer's Magic with its new cover, and brand new copies of The Traveler's Magic, so I'll be shipping out those books this week!

The covers for The Slayer's Magic and The Traveler's Magic side by side. Both feature a backdrop of a giant library. The Slayer's Magic features a male and female silhouette sneaking while The Traveler's Magic features a great tree with a sword in a rock beneath it, and several mice gnawing at a branch from the tree.

That means we only have three more books left in the Space Wizard Year 3 roster to release!

First is Heather Tracy's book, Only a Chapter, which I showed off last update. Copy edits are going on now, and it will be released on April 22!
Only a Chapter, by Heather Tracy. The title is at the top, and against a stylized rendition of the bi pride flag, a woman with red hair and green eyes, wearing a breast cancer awareness pin, has her body turned to a faceless male figure in a tux on the right, while her eyes go to a faceless female figure in a tux on the left. The author name is at the bottom.

Second is the new version of How to Operate Your Body, my nonfiction book. I released "The Legs" last year, and after writing on "The Arms" this year, I decided it would be better to roll everything into one full book so there wouldn't be any overlap between them, especially as a lot of the exercises use your whole body. So I'm updating the cover a little to match! This one will be released mid to late May.
The words "How to Operate Your Body" contain stick figures acting out the first letter of each word. The book background is a red color against lines reminiscent of muscle fibers.

The last book released for Space Wizard Year 3 will be the 6th book in J.S. Fields' Ardulum series! This latest one is titled Ardulum: MIrrors of Andal and will be releasing in June during our Year 4 campaign!
Behind the title, a scarlet-colored space ship sits on a planet. The image is divided by a gold stipe of energy. on the left side the planet is lush with plantlife. On the right, it is a barren wasteland. The ship straddles both sides of the planet.

Speaking of our next campaign, I spent most of January and February working on developmental edits, and I'm very much looking forward to this next selection of books. Take a gander at what books are in store below or right here, and if you want to make sure to get all the latest updates (and author interviews as we start them up in April and May) then click the link below to be notified!

That's all for now! I'll have some updates next time about our second campaign coming this year!

Project Update: BACKERKIT UPDATE ! (NEARING THE END)

πŸ“’ BackerKit Shipping Update – March 2025 πŸ“’

Hey everyone! Here’s the latest update on shipping for all BackerKits:
  • Owl House bags (USA pledges) – Shipping should finish ASAP! I am waiting on a few commissions that will help me wrap up shipping!
  • Hazbin Bags – Shipping will resume ASAP!
  • Hazbin Heaven & Stolas Bags – These will start once the previous shipments are finished.
  • Large 10x20 Bags – Since these are bigger than the samples, I had to order new boxes. Shipping will start soon.
  • EU Shipping – European Shipping for each backerkit is unfortunately a bit delayed due to new EU shipping issues I was not aware of. If I have to I might have to refund EU orders, but I am trying my best to not let this happen. If I dont do this right I could get fined heavily and Im trying to take the precautions for this to not happen, while still being able to give you your bags. <3

πŸš€ Need Your Bag for a Convention? πŸš€
If you have an upcoming con and need your order sooner, please email me at [email protected] with:
1️⃣ The bags you ordered
2️⃣ The con you’re attending
3️⃣ The date of the event
I’ll do my best to prioritize your shipment!

πŸ’° Why Shipping Has Been Slow πŸ’°
I want to be fully transparentβ€”manufacturing costs are split into $400-$500 payments, which I pay off weekly using Klarna or AfterPay (payment plans that let me pay in 4). This means I’m paying around $100-$150 per week, and because I do this every week, the costs stack up fast.
I typically make $500-$600 per week, but since multiple payments hit at once, I often only have $50-$100 left on payday. Since shipping costs $10 per package, that doesn’t leave me with a lot of extra money to get everything out as quickly as I’d likeβ€”especially since I still need to cover food and basic living costs.

πŸ“¦ Shipping Timeline & Anime Arizona πŸ“¦
The good news is my manufacturer gave me a $1,000 credit due to a shipping issue, so all FUTURE shipping costs are covered! (This does not include stuff I am already paying for, I had around $1500 left, and only had to pay another $500. So future payments are done but I am still paying things off) My goal is to get most orders shipped out by the end of March, because I’ll be vending at Anime Arizona!
March / April will absolutely be the upshift of shipping, as I'll be having some friends come out to help me GET THESE BAGS OUT OF MY STORAGE UNIT
Trust me, I want them gone. Paying for a $250 storage unit for 50 boxes is NOT ideal. I want them GONE. </3
And we've resolved the future shipping issues hopefully, as I am getting a new representative that I have in contract cannot add fees after bulk creation, so this won't happen again!! :D

✨ Anime Arizona Pick-Ups ✨
If you’re attending Anime Arizona and want to pick up your bag in person, please message me before the con! I’ll bring it in a special shipment for you.
Thank you all for your patience and supportβ€”I truly appreciate it! πŸ’–

P.S ! :
If you msg me and I tell you to use email for contact please know it is not personal. I've gotten threats in places like Instagram, and for safety of myself and being able to report to Backerkit, I have to use email. Thank you!
– Akira

Project Update: Shipping update and new covers!

Hi Folks,

We're closing in on the end of Space Wizard Year 3! Only four more books are releasing before we have a new campaign for Year 4, coming in June. There's already an amazing lineup of books for this, and I'm starting to get some cover images already, so stay tuned for that in a later update!

I just shipped out a bunch of books, and the next set will go out around when C.J. Hosack's The Traveler's Magic releases in March. Then there's Heather Tracy's book, Only a Chapter, coming to you in April, my nonfiction, How to Operate Your Body, in May, and we're capping the year off with J.S. Fields' new Ardulum book, now titled Mirrors of Andal!

For now, I've got three covers to show off. The first is Station in the Sky, by Caye March, which just shipped out! This book combines Caye Marsh's first story, Peace in the Sky, along with the all-new Station in the Sky, which follows the events of the first book.
Station in the Sky, by Caye Marsh. Against a purple sunset, a white space station at the top of the cover hovers over the title, which in turn is over a domed city in a wasteland, holding the only trees. Below that is the author's name.

Second, we've actually got a twofer for you. We have a new cover for C.J. Hosack's The Traveler's Magic, and Katie Cordy did such a good job with it, we had her make a new cover for The Slayer's Magic as well to match!

The Slayer's Magic and The Traveler's Magic, both by C.J. Hosack. On the left cover, a male and female silhouette sneak in front of compressing bookshelves inset into an outline of a vast library. On the right cover, the same outline of the library is in the background, but in the foreground is a great tree with a sword in a rock beneath it, and several mice gnawing at a branch from the tree.

Finally, I'm excited to show off Heather's new book, coming out in April! Only a Chapter is a sci-fi-lite romance with parallel realities and a bisexual protagonist!

If you're read any Space Wizard books and enjoyed them, I'd love it if you left a review on Goodreads, Amazon, or any other storefront. That really helps get the attention of new readers.

Finally, are you going to WorldCon in Seattle this year? If you have a voting membership, then you can suggest books for the Hugo award! Space Wizard has a lot of opportunities by some excellent authors. You can find a list of eligible works right here!

That's it for now, but I'll be back next month with more updates!

Hi Carrie, I'm a Canadian backer. My plan for finishing the pledge was to have my pin sent to a US address alongside a couple of other parcels I would have been getting, in order to save on fairly horrific Canadian shipping costs. Well, I'm not doing the other purchases. I've been out of work for a while now. All discretionary spending is stopping for me for a little while. And of course, there are the political shenanigans, which make me trust shipping from the USA a bit less. Please consider my pledge cancelled. Sadly. Your designs are lovely and I would like to support you in the future. If you care to refund any portion of my pledge that would be wonderful. If not, please put it toward something wonderful. Thank you, Geoffrey Smith

Project Update: Pride Potions: January Update

Hello again, everyone! Coming at you with a much more definitive timeline on how everything should be shaking out in regards to fulfillment and the next steps.

At the time of writing, the fulfillment schedule has become a little more ossified for me, and will hopefully continue on that path. Foxwright Apothecary is looking like it should be done and sent out some time in March, and Pride Potions is aiming for late March/April/maaaaybe May depending on how things go.

You have probably seen that yesterday I launched a new campaign, Decadent Orchard, for this year’s Pintopia (and is fully funded, hooray!)-- please don’t be concerned about these two outstanding projects! Foxwright Apothecary and Pride Potions have not been forgotten or swept aside, I promise fulfillment will be as swift as possible and in the campaign order. 2024 saw a lot of rapid growth for Key & Crow Studios, which I will admit is on a level that I was clearly not prepared for. However, I do know making pins and delivering a quality experience to your mailbox.

Orchard was originally slated to launch in late August or September, which obviously didn’t happen due to the assorted delays and personal life complications. I chose to hold off and push it down the line to be my Pintopia 2025 campaign (which snuck up on me since it’s happening almost two months earlier than last year’s event), and greatly scaled down scope from what I had initially intended to keep it manageable with the prior projects in mind. Taking everything into account, I’ve scheduled out expected fulfillment for Orchard for some time in the final quarter of the year.

β€”

Update from the β€œmy health wants to simply dissolve” front– right after I finished out my hellish semester and right before Christmas I had a fun trip to the emergency room via ambulance, as what I thought was some really mediocre chocolate sauce that came with a dessert was, in fact, nutella and I have a life-threatening tree nut allergy. So that was fun (and expensive). Otherwise, the source of most of my torment is the acute fungal sinus infection that has been festering unchecked in my head for who knows how long, and why my bloodwork has shown consistently elevated WBC and neutrophils levels  to the point that myself and my healthcare team were suspicious it was lupus, or feared something worse. This has taken a tremendous toll on my quality of life and overall ability to function, all other health issues notwithstanding. Surgical intervention is the only treatment for this issue, and I am so grateful that my surgery is scheduled a week from today (Jan 31)– and good lord it cannot come fast enough. I had my last bit of pre-op bloodwork done today, and expect a fairly easy recovery.

β€”

I appreciate all of your continued support and patience through this rough patch!

(most of this update was drafted last night; I was far too exhausted by the end of the day to effectively complete it and proofread)

Project Update: Tavern Tale is shipping out, plus anthology news!

Hi Folks,

I just took several packages to the post office to fulfil orders for the release of Kristina W. Kelly's Tavern Tale! If you haven't seen the cover yet, this was drawn by the amazing Serene Chia, who also did the cover for Physical Magic. The lettering was done by Audrey Logsdon, another local artist I met through vendor markets.

Tavern Tale has been getting some great reception as always, and for this book, and any of the others from Space Wizard, if you've read and enjoyed them, putting a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or any other review site really helps the books get noticed!

Next month we'll see the release of Caye Marsh's Station in the Sky, the follow-up to last year's Peace in the Sky. This new version not only includes the new book, but includes Peace in the Sky as well, for your reading pleasure!

Finally, I have some amazing news connected to the second campaign I ran in 2024, for Lesbians in Space, the anthology.

Our final entrant count for submissions was 54 stories, and a total of almost 234,000 words! To put this in perspective, we raised enough money during the campaign to pay authors for about 20 stories or around 80,000 words...

That means we got enough stories to fill almost three anthologies!

Finally, we made the decision to have not one, but two anthologies! That means Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before will be releasing in June 2025, but we are also preparing a new campaign later in 2025 to raise funds for Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back! This is along with Space Wizard's Year 4 campaign, still currently slated for June 2025, so be sure to watch for announcement for both campaigns!

That's it for now. I'll be back with more news next month!

William Tracy
