This update is primarily for international backers, since USA is 99%+ fulfilled. International backers, we have what is unfortunately not great news for you. Youâll still get all your rewards, but the process is moving much slower than we hoped due to several hiccups, all described in detail below.
Here at Goodman Games, we have fulfilled 40+ crowdfundings. I believe this is the first project to have quite so many hexes cast upon it. And this combination of issues is so crazy - I donât think we could make this up if we tried, creative as we are. Itâs truly like a maelstrom of bad luck on the international fulfillment side.
In the spirit of transparency, letâs dive in with some details for you all:
Canada: As previously noted, 30% of backers are fulfilled. Our fulfillment partner in Canada has a whole lot of inventory for this project, but the many items they have donât combine to complete any additional pledges in full. We are in the midst of shipping them the items they need to complete the orders. We havenât yet diagnosed exactly why the original shipment was short. Maybe our spreadsheet was incomplete, maybe there was a picking issue, maybe there were a ton of last-minute survey completions after the first bulk shipment went out, maybe a combination of all of this, maybe something else entirely. Regardless, our main priority is getting them stock so they can complete the fulfillment. At this point I think we're 2-3 weeks out from them having the stock and starting up fulfillment again.
UK/EU: This will be delayed at least another month. After recently following up with our UK/EU fulfillment partners, they dug a bit deeper on âwhy arenât these books here yet?â and discovered there was a miscommunication with the freight forwarder. This caused them to miss their boat appointment. The world of freight forwarding is kind of like catching a train or a plane, except itâs boats â if you miss the boat by 1 minute, you have to wait days or weeks for the next one. They discovered when following up that the shipment was still at the USA port due to a frustrating miscommunication. The shipment is now on track to âcatch the next boatâ and finally start moving to the UK/EU. Our partner there will be prioritizing this fulfillment once itâs in their control, but for now we are just waiting on the boat.
Australia: Weâve recently been informed by the receiving party on the Australian side that the goods are on the way, thank goodness. The current delivery shows the Australian bulk delivery hitting Sydney around April 2. After that there is customs clearance, local market transportation, receiving and unpacking, and so on. The minor wrinkle here is that the fulfillment partner recently moved warehouses, which will cause a delay of âa couple daysâ once the goods are moving locally. On the scale of the overall timeline to fulfill Australia, âa couple daysâ is pretty minor. We would anticipate the first boxes going âout the doorâ by mid to late April, depending on how all those factors shake out.
Weâre really sorry about all of this, international backers. Our first priority is to get you your pledges. Once thatâs done, weâll figure out some way to make this up to you!
